Detective Celeste Bradshaw and her partner, Dylan Parker, are investigating a series of rapes that have left women shattered and afraid. It doesn’t help that the rapist doesn’t leave any evidence behind and “romances” his victims by treating them gently and leaving a rose on their pillows. One link is a local restaurant, Dante’s Café, owned by Luc Dante and two friends. The darkly handsome Luc Dante isn’t a suspect, but Celeste and Dylan are positive the connection is there.

Celeste works undercover at the restaurant as a bartender and finds herself spending time with Luc and becomes attracted to him. Luc Dante, filled with secrets and wary of any woman, especially one carrying a badge, doesn’t want Celeste in his restaurant and especially, not in his life. He’s convinced someone with his dark past doesn’t deserve a life that has a happily ever after. It takes Celeste to prove him wrong. Two more unlikely people couldn’t have met nor have fallen in love despite the odds against them.
